Next stop: The Faroe Islands

What kind of future do we want to create together? At Northern Futures Hub, we believe the answer lies in collaboration, creativity, and action. And now, we’re taking the next step on this journey: to the Faroe Islands!

We’re excited to announce the participants selected to join this international collaboration, supported by the Nordic Atlantic Cooperation (NORA). Together with partners and communities from Norway, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands, we’re working to imagine and shape a future that is inclusive, sustainable, and thriving.

What is Northern Futures Hub?

Northern Futures Hub is built on a simple yet powerful idea: the future isn’t something that just happens, it’s something we can shape together. Through workshops, public events, and small experiments, the project connects people across generations, backgrounds, and borders to explore the futures they want to create.

Led by Folke, a Norwegian NGO based in Tromsø, and supported by partners in Iceland and the Faroe Islands, the project empowers citizens, fosters cross-generational learning, and strengthens regional cooperation in the North Atlantic.

Why the Faroe Islands?

The Faroe Islands are a place of natural beauty, innovation, and resilience. Like many communities across the North Atlantic, the islands face challenges such as climate change and demographic shifts.

At the same time, the Faroe Islands are a source of inspiration. Their strong sense of community and forward-thinking approaches to sustainability make them the perfect setting to explore how we can build thriving, inclusive futures. By working with local citizens and organizations, we hope to learn from their experiences and spark ideas that can benefit the entire region.

What’s next?

From June 1st to 4th, the participants will travel to the Faroe Islands to take part in workshops and creative experiments designed to spark new ideas and collaborations. They’ll work alongside local citizens and organizations to explore shared challenges and opportunities across the North Atlantic region.

This journey is just one part of the larger Northern Futures Hub project, which will continue through 2026 and beyond. By connecting people across borders and generations, the project aims to create a ripple effect of ideas, inspiration, and action that will benefit our communities.

The project is for anyone who wants to take part in shaping their community’s future. Whether you’re a young person, an elder, or part of a local organization, there’s a place for you in this initiative.
