If you are between 18-26 years old and ready to explore our North Atlantic futures, this could be a great opportunity!

From 1-4 of June in 2026, a group of young people living in Tromsø will visit the Faroe Islands, to gain inspiration and learning.

About our project

In the project, “Northern Futures Hub,” the nonprofit organisation Folke in Tromsø will bring young people together to create the futures they want to live in.

How do we do that? Some important ingredients are imagination and action.

We ask ourselves: what can a good and meaningful life look like for me and you? In a year, ten years, twenty years?

We will help each other turn ideas about the future into meaningful steps today. Across the North Atlantic - Norway, Iceland, the Faroe Islands - we connect people, communities, libraries, businesses, schools and others in workshops, mentoring and festivals.

The initiative builds on Folke's pre-project from 2024-25.

What is changing?

We see some interesting signs of change. The themes will be the starting point for discussions and workshops in 2026 – in both Tromsø and Faroe Islands. We are inviting you to take part in these sessions and have your say.

We believe that innovation can happen when people from different backgrounds come together to challenge conventions. And we believe that the future belongs to everyone.

Key topics to explore

  • A society without ageism: Let's look past the outdated myth of "too old" and "too young"

  • Regenerative tourism: How can locals and visitors together reimagine tourism as a force for community good?

  • AI for you and me: Who benefits of new technologies, who is left out, and can AI be responsible?

  • What if AI automates some or all our routine work?

  • What if time as social value replaces the time is money-mindset?

  • Creating an Intergenerational Futures Board

We hope you will send us your application!
