Meet other young adults and explore the future you want for yourself and your community.
Through creative activities and conversations, you will:
meet new people from Norway, Iceland, the Faroes and other countries
learn how inclusive practices can foster belonging and wellbeing
share good ideas and build upon each other’s ideas
discover how small actions today can help shape tomorrow
Grab this opportunity – travel to Tromsø with us to take part in Futures Festival Tromsø, 20-21 February 2027. The events and workshops are held in either Norwegian or English, or both languages.
The people behind it
Futures Festival Tromsø is one of several activities that is created in collaboration with the project Northern Futures Hub. This initiative is supported by the Nordic Atlantic Cooperation (NORA). The festival is also funded by local supporters.
The work is led by Folke, a Norwegian NGO based in Tromsø, together with project partners in Iceland and the Faroe Islands.
In the Faroe Islands, Folke has teamed up with Sylvia Garduño Magnussen. She will travel together with the individuals from the Faroe Islands who are selected to participate in the Tromsø event.
The background
Communities across the North Atlantic are dealing with big changes. These changes can feel overwhelming, especially in smaller or rural places.
Some of our areas of interest are:
What will our jobs be in the future
Lack of affordable housing
AI disruption
Reinventing tourism
Co-created community health and inclusion
At the same time, many people feel left out of decisions about the future. This project creates a space for people to talk about what matters to them, imagine different futures and test ideas in real life.
The goal is to make people feel more involved, more connected, and better prepared for what’s ahead. Folke and partners have already met on several occasions, and we have facilitated workshops in Tromsø (Norway), Reykjavik (Iceland) and Tórshavn (Faroe Islands).
Our event in Tromsø will offer you both useful future skills and personal growth.

We promise: with us, you won’t be stuck sitting in a conference hall listening to long speeches. Our workshops are hands-on labs, where you get to design alternative futures, test ideas, build things, and challenge the status quo.
